We discuss the trends and issues we observed during 2014 as we flipped resources into our Flipboard magazine (http://bit.ly/trendsandissues). We observed two major categories of trends during 2014. The first category was design, cognition, and learning theory. We observed in this category a number of recurring trends:  a continued interest in online learning, gaming, and the delivery of instruction (e.g., the flipped classroom, MOOCs). The second category was technological innovations and policies. Wearables, heads-up displays (e.g., Google Glass, Oculus Rift), tablets/phablets/smartphones, and security protocols dominated this category.

We have no recommended readings. Our recommendation is to spend time with family and friends.

We want to thank those who follow us on iTunes, Stitcher, and Flipboard.

We discuss the trends and issues we observed during the weeks of November 24-December 7. We discuss three trends one notable note that we observed as we flipped resources into our Flipboard magazine (http://bit.ly/trendsandissues). The trends are announcements about and enhancements of messaging and video conferencing tools, increased discussions on tablets and phablets, and a focus on neuroscience in teaching, learning, and training. Our notable note is the passing of Ralph Baer (http://bit.ly/1Gbje9T) the inventor of the first home gaming console .

We have three recommended readings for the week.
