Episode 85 Trends for March 30-April 13 Online Learning, AR & VR, and 3 Emerging Trends
April 15, 2017 § 1 Comment
We discuss the trends and issues we observed during the weeks of March 30-April 13 as we flipped resources into our Flipboard magazine (http://bit.ly/trendsandissues). We discuss two major trends that we observed along with three emerging trends. The two major trends were hold-overs from our previous sessions: online learning and augmented reality and virtual reality. There were a variety of resources that focused on strategies and tools for effective online learning. The second trend, augmented reality and virtual reality, saw a shift in focus. The focus was on educational uses of these tools. In past episodes, we observed resources on these trends focusing on the hardware needed for AR and VR. The three emerging trends were Open Educational Resources (OER), security issues, and learning hacks (i.e., how to improve one’s learning).
Speaking of augmented reality, Tim was recently interview on a podcast where he discussed augmented reality. You can listen to this episode at http://www.coolcatteacher.com/aurasma-augmented-reality-classroom/
Shameless promotion about to occur: We have a book on OER coming out in July 2017 from Routledge. The book’s focus is on the production of open educational resources. You can view the TOC on Routledge’s site.
