We discuss the trends and issues we observed during the weeks that include June 30-July 13 as we flipped resources into our Flipboard magazine (http://bit.ly/trendsandissues). We discuss four trends: analyses and studies, PD for IDT, online teaching and learning, and AR & VR. A number of resources focused on case studies, learner studies, and best practices in educational technology and instructional design. Another significant trend–a new one for our reporting–was professional development for those in instructional design and technology. Finally, the last two are hold-overs: online teaching and learning and AR/VR.
We also provided a shameless promotion. We have a book on OER that hit the shelves on July 10. The book is The Educator’s Guide to Producing New Media and Open Educational Resources
We have four recommended readings for this episode. They are:
- Generation Z is Starting University, but is Higher Education Ready? by Clair Povah and Simon Vaukins
- ISTE Releases New Standards for Educators by Tech and Learning
- MOOCs Find Their Audience: Professional Learners and Universities by Dhawal Shah
- An Augmented Reality Library Comes to Life for Aspiring Teachers at UT San Antonio by Sydney Johnson
The next episode will air on July 25.
