We discuss the trends and issues we observed during the weeks that include January  1-12, 2018 as we flipped resources into our Flipboard magazine (http://bit.ly/trendsandissues). We discuss four trends: hardware and software, security, digital citizenship, and augmented reality and virtual reality. A numer of resources about the Consumer Electronics Show that recently took place in Las Vegas were flipped into our Flipboard magazine.

We discuss four trends: hardware and software updates/announcementsannual trends/reviews/predictions, net neutrality, and instructional design. We end the episode with making predictions of the trends we believe will be for 2018: more hardware and software announcements, instructional design, security issues, online teaching and learning, artificial intelligence, augmented reality and virtual reality (with AR sharing more of the spotlight), and open educational resources.

Episode 67 Trends for July 11-24 Pokemon Go, Mobile & Online Learning, and 3D Printing Security Issues

Pokemon Go AppWe discuss the trends and issues we observed during the weeks of July 11-24 as we flipped resources into our Flipboard magazine (http://bit.ly/trendsandissues). We discuss three trends. The first is the return of VR and AR–specifically augmented reality with the popularity of Pokemon Go. The second trend was online learning and mobile learning. The third trend was 3D printing. A number of resources discussed applications of 3D printing, but the major story-line was security issues related to 3D printing.

Episode 53 Trends for December 8-20 VR, Online Learning, Security Issues & Software Data Breaches, and Chromebooks

We discuss the trends and issues we observed during the weeks of December 8-20 as we flipped resources into our Flipboard magazine (http://bit.ly/trendsandissues). We have four trends that we discuss. VR/AR was again a trend we observed–one that has been a trend for most of 2015. The second trend was online learning. There were a plethora of resources we flipped on various aspects of online learning: philosophical view points, best practices tied to research, and online learning as big business.The third trend we discuss is security issues ranging from the banning of watches during tests at a University to data-encryption issues with older cellphones. The fourth trend we discussed was Chromebooks in the classroom.
